Minneopa State Park
If you are the couple that likes to experience the outdoors, appreciates a good hike on a nice spring day, and longs to witness the beauty that Minnesota has to offer, then this one is for you. We will start the afternoon with a guided tour by naturalist Scott Kudelka, learning about the North America’s largest animal, The Bison. Ride through the bison range and learn how the herd is doing in the Minneopa area along with its unique characteristics. We will then proceed on an easy 4 mile hike that loops around the largest waterfall in southern Minnesota. This hike is appropriate for all skill level.
The Minneopa trail is home to a wide variety of songbird species. Be prepared to see the eastern bluebird, the western meadowlark, and the yellow shafted flicker. Tree sparrows, king birds, red-winged blackbirds, red-tailed hawks, and even American bald eagles are common at various times of the year.
As an optional activity we will end our time together at Number 4 American Bar and Grill, a local recommended casual restaurant with unique, one-of-a-kind dishes that you can’t find anywhere else.
